Description | This dataset focuses on content analysis of multimodal data using NVivo. It was collected as part of a research project carried out across two UK universities with the aim of better understanding three key aspects of pedagogy. Firstly, we wanted to ascertain how new knowledge can emerge during pedagogical activities which reflect the complexity of the real world. Secondly, we wanted to assess the extent to which choice in the mode of expression affected student responses to a discovery learning activity. Thirdly, we wanted to evaluate the extent to which collaboration could enrich both the collation and the analysis of qualitative data. The example focuses on how students can be empowered to collect rich and multimodal data which can then facilitate developments in our understanding of how learning takes place in complex social spaces. The dataset file is accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide. |
