Abstract | Report of an evaluation of a speech, language and communication intervention led by drama practitioners. This year long programme takes children of 6 and 7 years with speech, language and communication difficulties through a process that uses dramatic representations their own stories as a means to address their difficulties. The evaluation used a very wide range of data from school records, teachers, parents, speech therapists, drama practitioners and independent observers to show increased confidence, ability to speak out and improved relationships amongst referred children. Around 80% of referred children in 24 primary schools in London and North west England showed improvements in conduct and emotional behaviour and in learning, speaking, and listening. |
