Description

A new Solihull Approach programme specifically for schools, Understanding Your Pupils’ Behaviour, has been developed. This programme provides a relational framework for understanding behaviour management. It emphasises the role of containment and reciprocity in enabling young people to self-regulate. This new programme has been piloted with four primary schools in Kent.

A mixed method design combining both quantitative measures and qualitative interviews was used to assess the impact of the training. The studies focus is on a the impact on teachers from 4 primary schools. Data has been collected pre the training and at 6 months after the final training session. The teacher variables measured include anxiety, compassion satisfaction and fatigue, self-concept and teacher efficacy. Interviews with seven teacher have been undertaken. The presentation will offer an overview of the training offered as well as the quantitative and qualitative results and an analysis of these data.
