Abstract | A narrative text describing a fictive series of events. The narrator (first person) attempts to interview the celebrated artist Louise Bourgeois in her London studio, and events unfold, leading to his becoming her studio assistant. The text is interwoven with the narrative of an artist from an unspecified South or Central American country, living in London. There is another text including elements of the first narrative set in a different context, and a further text describing thought processes involved in making a particular painting. The texts serve to problematise the notion of authenticity, identity, originality and the role of the artist. The text is derived from several paintings by the author. |
