Abstract | Section A: This paper reviews the literature surrounding cognitive functioning in patients with Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) in the context of quality of life as an indicator of adaptation to chronic illness. The review focuses on cognitive functioning in APS patients and related clinical populations, describing and critiquing the empirical research literature exploring the evidence for cognitive deficits in these populations. Psychological theories of adaptation to chronic illness are discussed in relation to the concept of quality of life and research examining the relationship between cognitive dysfunction in APS and related clinical populations and health- related quality of life (HRQoL) is summarised.
