Abstract

This chapter explores what the methods underlying my walking project #DistanceDrift can offer contemporary archaeologists.
The case study briefly outlines the theoretic underpinning of Distance Drift, including the psychogeographical roots of the derive, attentive and attitudinal walking methods, and the influence of the Fluxus movement's 'event score' on walking scores. The chapter reproduces prompts created for festivalCHAT, inspired by the cult novel Riddley Walker by Russel Hoban, with selected text and image responses, reflections from participants on how Distance Drift has affected their practice, and proposed models for future use.
