Abstract

In this paper I reflect on my personal journey when undertaking field work that explored olive growing as a daily activity in Palestine, and what this process had taught me about myself, my family history and my homeland.

Belonging as a theme, which was generated from analysing the data, will be explored in relation to the notion of A’wna - a local Palestinian moral code that enabled solidarity and collaboration between humans and their surroundings, their heritage and other human communities (local and international).

I conclude with some thoughts on the meanings of this notion and praxis to me and to the readers.
