Description | A public screening of archive film of the Canterbury area discovered during research by Tim Jones on amateur filmmaking. The films reveal the changing face of Canterbury and the surrounding area from the 1930s onwards and give an insight into the development of amateur filmmaking. The screenings are interactive in nature, providing an opportunity for the audience to share their knowledge of the local area. This screening included a 1935 documentary on the laying of the foundation stone at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, unique footage of the bomb damage in Canterbury taken in1946 and the grand opening of Ricemans in 1962. Public Screening at Canterbury Christ Church University on 27 Oct 2011 and 19 Nov 2011. |
