Description | The ending of the English Teenage Pregnancy Strategy in 2010 led to many local sexual health clinics being shut and the sexual health specialist workforce being reduced. Some young people are known to have the risk factors that are associated with a higher probability of pregnancy and parenthood. Carol Robinson and Laura Jones developed the educational resource "Have you been KIST?" to be used by practitioners, who are not sexual health specialists, but who work with young people who may be at risk of teenage pregnancy or parenthood. The resource enabled practitioners to carry out an assessment using a screening tool (questionnaire), and use appropriate educational interventions designed to reduce the young person’s risk taking behaviour. This presentation will explain how the resource was evaluated and the key findings. |
