Abstract

This anthology is ostensibly concerned with landscape – with its depiction,
presentation and animation within a range of media, and the complexities of representation and meaning that this raises. This chapter approaches landscape from the animated context of the contemporary videogame, where its visual depiction, the challenges it presents and its gradual exploration and navigation is not only instrumental in forming the way that players play, but the way that gamespace and landscape are understood.
