Abstract | As teachers consider the aspirations they have and the particular contribution that schools in the Christian tradition can make for students, they must have a vision for promoting discipleship that will at the same time serve our culture by working towards its transformation. This entails nurturing a thinking faith that seeks out the biblical meaning and its relevance for today's cross-cultural situation in Western countries. This article advocates the valuing of theological curiosity, the pursuit of biblical faithfulness and the practice of contextualising faith. It draws attention to the implications for curriculum, staffing and the school's relationship with the wider community. |
